I'm deeply concerned about the administration's decision to roll back protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. This move jeopardizes the landscapes and cultural heritage sites that define us as a nation. These places are too important to lose.

National monument designations exist to permanently protect America's most extraordinary places. Breaking that promise disregards the enduring stewardship of Tribal Nations and the tireless efforts of local communities and conservation advocates who worked to safeguard these irreplaceable landscapes.

Rescinding these protections also opens the door to destructive development, resource extraction, and irreversible harm. It strips the public of access to essential activities like fishing, hiking, and recreation. Most of all, it sets a dangerous precedent, undermining the promise that lands such as the Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks would be safeguarded for future generations.

Americans overwhelmingly support protecting our national monuments and public lands, and I urge you to listen to the millions of people who cherish and rely on these places.
